Support to Begin Therapy

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to get out of therapy or what you want to change. We can simply start with whatever has brought you through the door.

Together we can explore emotional, behavioural, cognitive, physiological and spiritual aspects of your experiences.

Support to Begin Counselling

Step 1 - Contacting Me

You're welcome to use the contact form on this website or email me. Do not feel that you have to share lots of information, just share a little about yourself.

Step 2 - Consultation Call

You would be very welcome to have a phone consultation with me. This is an opportunity for us to talk about what brings you to consider therapy for yourself and about the therapeutic support that I offer, to see how we might work together.

Step 3 - Initial Session

This naturally follows a consultation call and is an opportunity to see what a therapy session with me feels like.

I'll listen carefully to what you share of your present and past experiences, what has been difficult, what you would like to change and your hopes for the future.

At the end of the initial session, you might want some time to think about if I am the right therapist for you or want to rebook for another session.

A Holistic Approach to Therapy

My training was holistic - which means being able to consider which therapeutic approaches might best suit your needs.

A holistic approach also means that as the therapy progresses, we can explore different ways of working together.

What to Expect

What to Expect

Therapy with me will be collaborative, but importantly shaped by what you bring and the pace that feels right for you. There wont be worksheets or agenda set by me. Instead, sessions will focus on what feels most important to you.

You can expect:

  • deep listening without judgement

  • reflection that helps you hear your own thoughts and feelings more clearly

  • space to explore uncertainty, identity questions, difficult emotions

  • empathy with authenticity, with warmth, rather than feeling clinical

Length and Frequency

Session are 50 minutes in length. How often we meet is something that we can discuss in our initial session.

I can offer therapy on a short-term or long-term basis; we might get a sense of this in the initial session, but sometimes this takes a little longer.

Reviewing how your therapy is progressing can either be an organic process or we can agree how often we might do this.
